The Fast Track weight system is the thing everyone's going to ask about. Four 4g weights that slot into top or bottom positions — top-loaded raises swing weight for more power, bottom-loaded drops the balance point for easier maneuverability. Worth flagging one thing: Mizuno reached out to clarify that this isn't meant to function like weighted tape. The weights aren't adding mass — they're redistributing weight that already exists in the paddle to shift balance and swing feel while keeping overall weight constant. That's a different mechanism than tape, which adds. Whether that distinction matters in practice is what I'm still trying to figure out. At $295, the question is whether on-the-fly redistribution is worth paying for over just buying a paddle that already ships at the balance point you want. I don't have a clean answer yet.

Mizuno deliberately skipped the foam core, for now. Their position is that performance is comparable, but the feel and sound differ. This paddle is responsive without being overactive. More pop than I expected for a 16mm. Still early. At this price point, the paddle needs to earn it over time.
